Spark Igniters Eclipse Spark Igniters ā€” 12568, 13047 Series, 150000 Series, 16946

Eclipse spark igniters (also called spark electrodes or spark plugs in burner applications) create the high-voltage electrical spark that ignites the fuel-air mixture at burner startup. Eclipse makes igniters in multiple thread sizes (1/2" NPT, 14mm M14Ɨ1.25, 1/4" NPT), lengths, and gap configurations for use across Eclipse AH burners, TJ burners, RatioMatic burners, and other Eclipse industrial burner families.

Flame Rods Eclipse Flame Rods ā€” 13093 Series, 12392 Series, 10002242

Eclipse flame rods (flame sensing rods / ionization rods) detect the presence of a flame by conducting a small ionization current through the flame to ground. A failed or fouled flame rod causes nuisance lockouts ā€” the burner control sees no flame signal and shuts down even when the burner is firing. Eclipse flame rods are available in 1/4" NPT (13093 series) and 3/4" NPT (12392 series) in multiple lengths for different burner and furnace configurations.

ALO Valves Eclipse Adjustable Limiting Orifice Valves ā€” 500605ā€“500609

Eclipse Adjustable Limiting Orifice (ALO) valves are V-port, brass body valves used in industrial gas combustion valve trains to set and limit the maximum gas flow to a burner or zone. The unique V-port design allows for extremely fine gas flow and air/gas ratio adjustment. Maximum inlet pressure: 40 PSI. Available in five sizes from 3/4" to 2" NPT ā€” the 500605 through 500609 series covers the full range used in commercial and industrial gas valve trains. For commissioning multi-burner systems and for safety compliance with combustion codes.

Honeywell Eclipse ā€” Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Eclipse combustion parts, igniters, flame rods, and valve train components. Contact us or call (901) 458-2000 ā€” Memphis Control Center has served the combustion industry since 1967.

What types of industrial burners does Eclipse make?

Honeywell Eclipse manufactures a wide range of industrial gas burners: AH Series air heating burners, TJ Series radiant tube burners, RatioMatic proportional burners, Vortometric burners, ThermJet self-recuperative burners, Tempest burners, Airflo burners, and IJ Series inline gas burners. Eclipse also manufactures recuperators, heat exchangers, combustion air blowers, valve trains, and complete combustion systems for the glass, metal processing, food and beverage, automotive, textile, and paper industries.

What is an Eclipse Adjustable Limiting Orifice (ALO) valve used for?

An Eclipse Adjustable Limiting Orifice (ALO) valve ā€” part numbers 500605 through 500609 for 3/4" through 2" NPT ā€” is installed in a gas valve train to set and limit the maximum gas flow rate to a burner or burner zone. These are V-port, brass body valves with a maximum inlet pressure of 40 PSI. The unique V-port design allows extremely fine gas flow and air/gas ratio adjustment. The orifice is set during commissioning to establish the correct maximum firing rate, then locked in position. ALO valves are important for multi-burner systems where each zone needs individual flow control, and are commonly required by combustion safety standards. Call (901) 458-2000 to confirm the correct ALO size for your valve train.

How do I identify the correct Eclipse igniter for my burner?

The correct Eclipse igniter is determined by thread size (1/2" NPT, M14Ɨ1.25, 1/4" NPT), insertion length, and gap setting. Read the part number off the existing igniter body ā€” it will be stamped there. If unreadable, consult the Eclipse burner's installation and operating manual (IOM), which specifies the correct igniter part number for your burner model. Call (901) 458-2000 and we can help cross-reference your part number.

Is Honeywell Eclipse the same company as Eclipse Inc. from Rockford, Illinois?

Yes. Eclipse, Inc. was founded in 1908 in Rockford, Illinois and operated as a family-owned company for most of its history ā€” the last president, Lach Perks, was the founder's grandson. In October 2014, Eclipse was acquired by Melrose Industries' Elster Gas division for $158 million. In January 2016, Honeywell completed its acquisition of Elster (including Eclipse) for approximately $5.1 billion. Eclipse now operates as Honeywell Eclipse, part of Honeywell Thermal Solutions alongside Hauck, Maxon, Exothermics, and Kromschrƶder. The product line, part numbers, and manufacturing operations are substantially unchanged from the Eclipse Inc. era.

What is the difference between an Eclipse flame rod and a spark igniter?

A spark igniter creates the high-voltage spark that ignites the fuel-air mixture at burner startup ā€” firing only during the ignition trial (typically 2ā€“5 seconds). A flame rod does not spark ā€” it detects the presence of flame after ignition by conducting a small ionization current through the flame to ground. The burner control uses this signal as proof-of-flame to keep the gas valve open. Some Eclipse burner configurations use a combination igniter/flame rod that both sparks to ignite and senses the flame; others use separate components. Replace both if either shows carbon fouling, cracking, or an eroded tip ā€” a faulty flame rod causes nuisance lockouts even when the burner is firing normally.
