What is a Honeywell V5055 gas safety shutoff valve?
The Honeywell V5055 is an industrial gas safety shutoff valve for commercial and industrial burner management. It is a normally-closed valve that requires power to open and closes immediately on power loss — providing fail-safe gas shutoff. Available in sizes from ¾" to 4" (¾" through 3" in NPT; 4" in flanged connection only) for natural gas and LP gas service. V5055C and E models add a double seal with proof-of-closure switch. The V5055 series is required by ASME CSD-1 and NFPA 85 on commercial and industrial gas-fired boilers and process heaters, and is used with Honeywell V4055 or V4062 fluid power actuators.
What is the difference between the Honeywell V88A and V8944 gas valves?
The Honeywell V88A is a diaphragm gas valve with slow opening and fast closing for commercial boiler and burner applications — available in ¾" to 3" NPT at 24VAC, providing single-stage gas shutoff. The V8944 is a two-stage pressure-regulating gas valve that opens first to a low-fire position, then to full fire, for burners requiring staged gas delivery for smooth ignition and low-NOx operation. What does BASO gas controls do?
BASO Gas Products makes thermocouple-powered pilot safety controls for standing pilot gas appliances. When a pilot flame is present, the thermocouple generates a millivolt signal that holds the BASO safety valve open. If the pilot goes out, the signal drops and the valve closes, shutting off gas to the main burner. BASO controls are widely used on commercial boilers, unit heaters, and industrial process equipment that use standing pilot ignition systems.
