Honeywell
C7027, C7035, C7012, C7061 & C7076 Series — 110+ Products
Honeywell Gold PMT Channel Partner

Honeywell is the most widely installed flame scanner brand in commercial and industrial burner management. Their scanner line divides into two detection types — UV (ultraviolet) for gas and light oil burners, and infrared for heavy oil and high-temperature applications — with several models covering both.

The C7027 Mini-Peeper is the most common UV scanner in the field, available in ½" and 1" NPT versions with lead lengths from 18" to 96". The C7035 is the larger-body UV scanner for applications requiring NEMA 3/4 ratings. For infrared detection, the C7012 lead sulfide scanner and C7076 cadmium sulfide scanner cover oil and combination fuel applications. The C7061 provides combined UV/IR detection for demanding dual-fuel systems.

Fireye
InSight Series UV, IR & UV/IR Flame Scanners
Fireye Preferred Primeline Distributor

Fireye InSight flame scanners are used with Fireye BurnerLogix and NX Series burner management systems as well as many third-party controls. The InSight line covers UV, infrared, and UV/IR combination detection with interchangeable heads and a common electronics package — simplifying inventory and replacement in multi-burner facilities.

As a Fireye Preferred Primeline Distributor, we stock current InSight models along with legacy Fireye scanner heads and accessories for older BurnerLogix and 72/E110 Series systems still in service. If you need a cross-reference from a legacy Fireye scanner to a current InSight equivalent, our team can help.

Types of Flame Scanners We Stock

Choosing the right flame scanner depends on fuel type, burner design, and the burner management system it connects to. Not sure which scanner you need? Call our team — we cross-reference scanners daily.

UV Flame Scanners

Detect ultraviolet radiation from combustion — the standard choice for gas and light oil burners. Fast response, high sensitivity. Honeywell C7027, C7035; Fireye InSight UV.

Infrared Flame Scanners

Detect infrared radiation — used for heavy oil burners and applications where UV detection is not suitable. Honeywell C7012 (lead sulfide) and C7076 (cadmium sulfide); Fireye InSight IR.

UV/IR Combination Scanners

Detect both UV and infrared — used on combination fuel burners or where fuel type may vary. Provides reliable detection across a wider range of combustion conditions. Honeywell C7061; Fireye InSight UV/IR.

Mini-Peeper Compact UV Detectors

Compact ½" NPT body for tight burner installations. The Honeywell C7027 Mini-Peeper is the most widely installed UV flame detector in commercial boiler and burner applications.

Sight Pipes & Mounting Accessories

Sight pipes, adapter fittings, purge air connections, and mounting brackets for flame scanner installation. Properly sized sight pipes are critical for reliable UV detection.

Replacement Scanner Heads

Replacement detection heads for Fireye InSight and legacy scanner bodies. Allows field replacement of the sensing element without replacing the full scanner assembly.

Flame Scanners — Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about flame scanner selection, compatibility, and replacement. Need a specific answer? Contact our team or call (901) 458-2000.

What is a flame scanner?

A flame scanner is a sensor that detects the presence of a flame in a burner or combustion system. It sends a signal to the burner management system or flame safeguard control to confirm that ignition has occurred and that flame is present during operation. If the scanner fails to detect flame during startup or loses the flame signal during operation, the control initiates a safety lockout and shuts off fuel to the burner. Common types include UV, infrared, and UV/IR combination scanners.

What is the difference between a UV and infrared flame scanner?

UV (ultraviolet) flame scanners like the Honeywell C7027 detect the ultraviolet radiation produced by combustion — the standard choice for gas and light oil burners. Infrared (IR) scanners like the Honeywell C7012 detect infrared radiation and are used for heavy oil burners and high-temperature applications where UV detection is not reliable. UV/IR combination scanners like the Honeywell C7061 detect both, making them suitable for combination fuel burners or installations where fuel type may change.

What is the Honeywell C7027 Mini-Peeper?

The Honeywell C7027 Mini-Peeper is a compact UV flame detector with a ½" NPT body, widely used in commercial and light industrial boiler and burner applications. It detects ultraviolet radiation from gas and light oil flames and connects to Honeywell 7800-Series burner controls via a plug-in flame amplifier (R7849 or R7847). Available in multiple lead lengths (18", 48", 72", 96") and temperature ratings. It is the most commonly installed UV flame scanner in commercial heating equipment.

What is the difference between the Honeywell C7027 and C7035?

Both are Honeywell UV flame detectors for gas and light oil burners. The C7027 Mini-Peeper has a compact ½" NPT body rated to 215°F — the most common choice for commercial boiler applications. The C7035 has a larger 1" NPT body rated to 250°F with NEMA 3/4 weatherproof construction, better suited for outdoor or more demanding industrial installations. Both are compatible with the same Honeywell 7800-Series flame amplifiers.

Do Fireye InSight scanners work with Honeywell burner controls?

Fireye InSight scanners are designed primarily for use with Fireye BurnerLogix and NX Series burner management systems. Compatibility with Honeywell 7800-Series controls is not a simple plug-and-play swap. If you are replacing a scanner on a Honeywell 7800-Series system, we recommend staying with Honeywell C7027 or C7035 series detectors. Call us at (901) 458-2000 and our team can confirm the right replacement for your specific system.

What sight pipe do I need for my flame scanner?

Sight pipe sizing depends on the scanner model, burner tile opening, and installation angle. For Honeywell C7027 Mini-Peeper scanners, the sight pipe inner diameter should match the ½" detector body. Sight pipe length affects signal strength — longer pipes may require a larger opening or purge air to prevent contamination. Contact our team for help selecting the correct sight pipe and purge air fittings for your specific application.
