Fireye — 90+ years as the first name in flame monitoring. Fireye was founded in 1930 and offered the first commercial/industrial electronic flame safeguard control — a photoelectric device that detected the presence of an oil flame in less than a second. In the decades that followed, Fireye was first to develop infrared scanners to monitor both gas and oil flames, first to develop a scanner that discriminated between signals from adjacent burners on a multi-burner system, and first to create a completely solid-state programming control. Headquartered at 3 Manchester Road, Derry, New Hampshire — Fireye's manufacturing home for decades. Formerly part of United Technologies Corp. (UTC) and then Carrier Global. In July 2024, Sentinel Capital Partners acquired Fireye, Det-Tronics, Marioff, and Autronica from Carrier for $1.425 billion, creating Spectrum Safety Solutions (Stamford, CT) as a standalone industrial safety platform. In March 2026, Fireye acquired Energy Technology & Control Limited (ETC) of the UK, expanding its combustion control portfolio. "For 90 years, the Fireye brand has been recognized for premier quality and exceptional customer support." — Sean Byrnes, President and General Manager of Fireye, March 2026.

BurnerLogix™ YB110UV · YB110UVSC · YB110IR — BurnerLogix Burner Management

The Fireye BurnerLogix™ is a microprocessor-based burner management control system for automatically ignited oil, gas, and combination fuel burners. It programs the burner/blower motor, ignition, and fuel valves for proper and safe burner operation. BurnerLogix learns the characteristics of the fuel being burned and sets internal thresholds to optimize detection. Smart LEDs provide real-time operating status and lockout information. Non-volatile memory retains history through power interruptions. Optional VFD and LCD display modules. Interchangeable YP programmer modules allow versatility across control function, timing, and flame scanning means — one programmer module can solve most applications.

The YB110 chassis is ordered with the amplifier type required for your scanner: UV non-self-check (YB110UV), UV self-check (YB110UVSC), or IR auto-check (YB110IR). A complete BurnerLogix system requires: YB110 chassis + YP programmer module + wiring base + appropriate flame scanner.

UV Scanners UV1A · UV2 · UV7 · 45UV5 · 55UV5 — UV Flame Scanners

Fireye UV flame scanners detect ultraviolet emissions from fossil fuel flames — natural gas, propane, methane, butane, coke oven gas, kerosene, light petroleum distillates, and diesel fuels. Non-self-checking scanners (UV1A, UV2, UV7) must be used on burners that cycle at least once every 12 hours. Self-checking scanners (45UV5, 55UV5) are suitable for constantly fired burners where continuous diagnostic checking is required during operation. The 45UV5 uses a cast aluminum housing with oil-resistant gasket and a self-checking shutter that tests the UV tube and electronics every four seconds during the firing period.

Fireye — Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Fireye BurnerLogix, UV and IR flame scanners, and flame safeguard system selection. Contact us or call (901) 458-2000 — Memphis Control Center has served the combustion industry since 1967.

What is a Fireye BurnerLogix and what do I need for a complete system?

The BurnerLogix is a microprocessor-based burner management control for automatically ignited oil, gas, and combination fuel burners. A complete system requires four components: (1) YB110 chassis with the correct amplifier — YB110UV (UV non-self-check), YB110UVSC (UV self-check), or YB110IR (IR auto-check); (2) YP programmer module for your application's timing and control function; (3) wiring base; and (4) flame scanner — UV1A (non-self-check UV), 45UV5 (self-check UV), or 48PT2 (IR). Optional VFD or LCD display modules show full-language status and lockout history. Call (901) 458-2000 with your burner type, fuel, and scanner type and we will help spec the complete system.

What is the difference between UV1A, 45UV5, and 55UV5 flame scanners?

All three detect UV emissions from fossil fuel flames, but differ in self-checking capability. UV1A: miniature non-self-check, 1/2" NPT, non-replaceable UV tube — must be used on burners that cycle (turn off) at least once every 12 hours so the safety circuit is exercised. 45UV5: self-checking, 1" NPT, 102–264 VAC shutter voltage, cast aluminum housing, −40° to 200°F — suitable for constantly fired burners where continuous diagnostic checking during operation is required. The 45UV5 uses an electromagnetic shutter that cycles every four seconds to verify both the UV tube and signal circuits are functioning correctly. Used with the YB110UVSC amplifier. Compatible with Flame-Monitor, BurnerLogix, D-Series, FlameWorx, MicroM, and some P-Series Fireye controls. 55UV5: same self-check capability as 45UV5, but additionally rated for Class I, Division 2, Groups A–D and Class II, Division 2, Groups F–G hazardous locations. Use 55UV5 in place of 45UV5 when the installation is in a classified area. Call (901) 458-2000 to confirm the right scanner for your application.

What is the Fireye 48PT2 and what is the replaceable sensor cell?

The Fireye 48PT2 is a discrete lead sulfide (PbS) infrared flame scanner that detects low flicker frequency IR signals from gas and oil flames. It requires a separate amplifier — typically the YB110IR BurnerLogix amplifier, or a compatible D-Series, FlameMonitor, FlameWorx, or MicroM control. Available in straight head and 90° head configurations, with 4 ft or 8 ft TC-ER rated cable, 1/2" NPT mounting collar. The replaceable sensor cell is Fireye part number 4-263-1 (Firetron cell) — it can be swapped in the field to restore full scanner function without replacing the entire assembly. Operating temperature −40°F to 140°F. NEMA 4X. UL 1569 compliant.

What is the difference between non-self-checking and self-checking scanners?

Non-self-checking scanners (UV1A, UV2, UV7) rely on the burner cycling off to exercise the safety checking circuit — the control verifies the scanner goes to 'no flame' when the burner is off. Fireye specifies these must only be used on burners that cycle at least once every 12 hours. Self-checking scanners (45UV5, 55UV5) continuously verify the integrity of the flame detection circuit while the burner is running — without waiting for a burner cycle. They are required for constantly fired burners. Fireye BurnerLogix bulletin BL-1001 specifies which scanner type is correct for each application. When in doubt, the self-checking scanner is the safer choice.

What industries and applications use Fireye flame safeguard controls?

Fireye products are used across commercial and industrial combustion applications: commercial and institutional boilers (schools, hospitals, office buildings, apartment buildings), industrial process heating (ovens, furnaces, kilns, dryers), power generation, pulp and paper mills, petrochemical and refining facilities, food processing plants, and supplementary firing applications. Memphis Control Center has stocked Fireye products for the Memphis and Mid-South market since 1967. Call (901) 458-2000 for application-specific guidance.
